Bastion 12k

The Bastion 12k is Bastion Run Club’s premier road racing event in Nanaimo. It is the third leg of the Vancouver Island Race Series. You will run a fast out-and-back course, along the country roads of Lantzville with farm and ocean views.

The start time is 11:00 AM.  Race check-in opens at 9:00 AM.  There is no early start and no day of race registration.

Beverages and food will be served after the race.  Awards are presented to the top 10 runners in each five-year age group.  All participants are eligible for door prizes.

Registration for the series and each individual race started at the Royal Victoria Marathon weekend and continues to the Saturday before each race.

Building on the great success off 2024 for 2025

The Bastion Running Club welcomes all runners back to the popular Bastion 12K IN Lantzville.

This well-organized and fast 12K event is a must-do for those wanting to earn personal bests to add to the more typical lists of events like the 5K, 10k and half-marathon.

Race moved to Lantzville, north of Nanaimo

In 2025, the Bastion 12K is moving to a new location in Lantzville. It’s more elevation over the 12k than you’re used to with our past location, but here’s the good news…since it’s a new course, anything you run is a PB!

Bastion Run Club

History

Bastion Run Club is Nanaimo’s oldest running club, formed in 1981. The club name is fittingly adopted from Nanaimo’s best-known landmark, the Bastion on Front Street.

Membership
