Meet Vancouver Island Race Series ambassador Michael Angrove, who competes for Esprit Run Club.
Mike is a competitive runner covering distances from 5K to the marathon.
He started running in 2012 simply as a way to lose weight. However, as Mike tells us, he soon became addicted to running and watching his personal bests get faster and faster.
His big, audacious goal is now within his sights: to run all six Marathon Majors. Mike has run in Chicago, Berlin, Boston (twice), and New York. Only Tokyo and London remain. However, Sydney in Australia may become a seventh event to make his quest more challenging. Good luck to you, Mr. Angrove.

Mike enjoys being active in the local running community, including being the event director who brought Parkrun to Victoria back in 2017 (and still occurs every Saturday morning at 9:00 am at Clover Point).
He is now coached by local legend Jim Finlayson, Cameron Levins’ coach.
You may also follow Mike on Strava, or running along the E&N Trail most days.
He hopes to race all eight races in 2025, barring injuries.
“I am most excited about the Westcoast Sooke 10K because I will take any excuse to get to beautiful Sooke and enjoy Driftwood Beer,” shared Mike.
